3G Mobile Phone Sales in UAE to Hit 1.5m

E-mail Print PDF

According to Axiom telecom sales of 3G mobile telephone handsets in the UAE will likely hit the 1.5 million unit figure this year. I consider that this number will greatly improve if our local telecom providers reduced their rates to encourage more usage of data services. If we ever will use our Pocket PCs as main devices for Internet browsing (which is expected in the future) then this will be much easier with acceptable data rates. I wish Etisalat and du will realize this sooner than later.

Further on this topic reported by AMEinfo: The surge in mobile sales is due, in large part, to the mass migration of users from traditional voice-only mobiles to more sophisticated third-generation mobile technology widely adopted across the Middle East in the last few years, Axiom said. A standard third-generation, or 3G, handset will have wireless voice capabilities, wireless video, wireless broadband data, camera, music player, smart card inserts, web browser and other office applications.
